Thursday
Our dear Team One left in the early morning. Dick, Barbara and Diana were so valuable to our work and they will be so missed. Christopher drove them all the way to Entebbe with a stop at the equator to shop and lunch. Barbara left on a Brussels flight at about 11 pm and Dick and Diana left on a KLM flight to Nairobi and Amsterdam around 8 pm. We send prayers for a safe journey.
Sue is a bit better with her COVID struggle. Our special waiter, Ivan, has been taking very good care of her. He has brought her soup and hot tea and watched out for her welfare. She actually went outside of her room to get some fresh air in the afternoon sun.
Dave and Karen met a new driver, Davis, who is well known among our staff. Since Christopher, our trusted driver, was taking the first team to Entebbe, Davis stepped in to transport us. Davis took Dave and Karen to Muko High School just after Team One departed.
Since the concert was over, the MUSIC students were in the mood for a change! Keneth brought out all the African instruments and they rehearsed for most of the morning. Karen was able to take some videos and photos of students playing the lovely various instruments. Their sound is unique! Keneth would like to incorporate African and Western instruments to make a different and marvelous sound. The students all had one closure class before lunch, we said goodbye and talked about the future of their work. The students understand that they are doing something unusual and wonderful. Keneth has a vision for the future of our students and we are lucky to have him leading our students. They like him and will be ready for success under his leadership.
Dave worked with Prudance, our High School bursar, in the morning. He and Prudance had some remarkable breakthroughs in understanding one another. Dave is very encouraged about having Prudance as our financial leader.
Around 11 am Dave began his financial training. Most of the high school staff attended along with Judith, Onesmas, Pamella, and Thomas attended from the ACT staff. Sue and Dave had prepared an exceptional session that explained budgeting and finance, including the reason ACT can provide a security fence and solar power but have difficulty paying our staff. The attendees were very responsive and fun! We feel so blessed to enjoy our relationship.
Dave and Karen returned to the hotel about 2:30pm and were able to nap for a little bit. We met Sue outdoors at the Cephas Inn for dinner and a long talk. Our Cephas friends have become so important to us. Claire also greets us every morning and fills in on Ivan's day off.
It is chilly here- many of you probably imagine it is very warm, but because we are at a high altitude it is cool and breezy. Our friends here wear wintery coats and we have been wishing for warmer clothing.
Sending our love to you all- thank you for your messages in response to the Blog!
