Happy 20th Anniversary ACT! April 22, 2023

Generous, Richard, Jesse in the early years of ACT  (Jesse is 19 now)

(Generous) It was April 22, 2003 when my husband Richard and I sat down to write letters seeking for people with expertise in writing strategic plans. The purpose was for us to learn how to plan for projects that could help our community, especially the sick. How do we get them transported from their village homes to hospitals for treatment? Means of transport was a big challenge by then, causing patients to die in the hand-carried stretcher before reaching the hospitals.

Richard and I wrote a number of letters, all handwritten. We sent them to different people in different countries that we had found by searching online while we visited the British Council and American Embassy Resource Centres in Kampala. We waited on responses and by God's grace only one person out of many responded - Sue Waechter, Midland, Michigan. This was a miracle to us. Somehow, Sue felt called to respond. Sue later introduced us to her husband, John. We connected, we became great family friends, Turinawes in Uganda and Waechter in USA. Over email, Sue helped us with a strategic plan. We started walking the journey of community transformation together. What happened next was unbelievable!

(Sue) Upon receiving the letter!

Generous and I hope you enjoy reading about some of our favorite moments during this blog season! Stay tuned!

  2. What a joyful noise you have created for so many people to be all they could be in God's eyes. You answered the call from Richard and Generous and now, 20 years later, there are multiple programs of support in agriculture, education, music, health, self-reliance, self worth, and connection to others. Your love and caring for all God's children has been exponential. Thank you Sue! You have touched us all!
