Terrific Tuesday
Greetings to all!
Sue and Barbara stayed in Kabale for the morning to do ACT Uganda Board Training for the newly appointed Board. Rev. Esau handed over the Board Chairmanship to Moses Bahati. The group seemed happy with the training and the discussion.
Karen, Dick, and Dave went up to Muko High School while Diana remained at the ARC to identify crafts to take home. Diana separated the crafts into groups for Midland, Lansing and Traverse City. We should be well-organized for our return.
Dick and Dave walked the entire grounds of Muko High School to see every building and assess needs. They poked their heads into every latrine, every wash area, every structure and found ideas for many projects.
Karen went to work with the MUSIC Camp. Students practice from 9 am to 1pm, take a break for lunch and resume rehearsals from 2:15-5 pm. They have approximately two hours off for dinner and a break, then continue rehearsals at 7 pm. The challenges have been the afternoon downpour of rain which prohibits any rehearsal because of the torrential rain falling on metal roofing which is deafening. One of the classrooms we were using flooded and the students had to move to another area. Students are making phenomenal progress and are an absolute joy.
At approximately 3 pm Dick presented to a large group from the community about a "Framework for Youth Success". About 60 community members attended. Guma interpreted for Dick as he shared slides on our large screen TV and spoke about the research conducted in Midland that has nearly eliminated teenage delinquency.
The team returned to the hotel after 6 pm. We have enjoyed marvelous food at the Cephas Inn. The rain brought cold temperatures so many of us ordered soup!
Team One is preparing to leave on Thursday- so we are talking about packing and last minute planning. Dick, Barbara and Diana will see you soon!
So glad the visit has been so good for you all. Asking our Good Lord to continue to bless all of you there with good health, peaceful spirits, and safe travels!
ReplyDeleteWe thank God, is still in control. Whatever challenges may be, God still remains. His protection is upon us. Thank you everyone for your sacrificial love to the people of Muko! Many more blessings 🙌
