Manic Monday
A good day!
Karen started early at Muko High School with MUSIC camp. It was absolutely delightful to see the students again! Forty one students reported on Sunday and a few more joined on Monday. The students were divided in four groups, Beginners ( a group that never played before), Students at the beginning of Book One, Students at the end of Book One, Students in Book Two. Our teacher, Keneth Nahabwe, has done an excellent job bringing the students together after Covid. A plan was discussed for the rest of the Camp especially because the time is shorter than usual because the students accommodated the team's travel plans and also have to begin classes on Monday. Students are working toward a concert/demo on Wednesday before the first team leaves and then a video recording for USA churches on Thursday.
The rest of the team met with the newly installed Bishop of Kigezi. It was a very good meeting. The Diocese is partnering with ACT in significant ways to make the school a model school.
By 2pm, the rest of the team made it back to Muko. Diane and Sue met with the sewers in our sewing program to teach them how to make adorable stuffed gorillas. The Heavens opened and it rained so hard that it was pitch black in the room and we could hardly hear each other with the metal roofs. We got a first gorilla cut out of fabric and sewed a head but had to stop at 5:30pm. Diana talked to them about what they would get paid for sewing the complicated gorilla.
After dropping Sue and Diana off at the ACT Resource Center, Barbara, Dave and Dick went up to the High School. Barbara led the meeting with the Honors Council at the school, learning how it is working. Dick attended too.
Dave worked with Prudance on Quickbooks and finance since she is the new Bursar (bookkeeper) at Muko High School. It was a very productive training session. As Dave said, "Light bulbs went off." Prudance is a very smart young woman and we are so fortunate to have her at the school.
Blessings to you all!
